The word “Respeito” means “Respect” in Portuguese. At the Gracie Academy, respect is everything. Respect for fellow students, both more and less knowledgeable. Respect for the power of the techniques. Respect for the mats. Respect for the instructors, past and present that make it all possible. By respecting everyone and everything, you earn respect in return. GM Helio Gracie used the word “Respeito” so much that we had no choice but to include it as T-shirt 3 of 10 in the Grand Master Series.
